How-to
Add and manage keywords
Add keywords, track a related keyword, tag keywords, filter the list, and delete keywords you no longer need.
You add and manage tracked keywords on the Keywords tab of the Keywords section. Before you have any, the tab shows “No keywords yet” and “Use Add keywords to start tracking where you rank in search.”
Add keywords
Section titled “Add keywords”- In the navigation rail, open Keywords, choose the Keywords tab, and click Add keywords.
- In the Keywords (one per line) field, type or paste your keywords, one per line. “Blank lines and keywords you already track are skipped.”
- Click Add.
Result: “3 keywords added.” When some lines were already tracked, the message reads “3 keywords added, 2 skipped because you already track them.” New keywords start active, in your project’s market.
Limits per dialog: at most 100 keywords, each 80 characters or fewer. The counter under the field shows how many lines you have entered.
To change a keyword, delete it and add the new one — as the dialog says, its text is the identity of its ranking history.
Track a related keyword
Section titled “Track a related keyword”- In the navigation rail, open Keywords, choose the Keywords tab, and click a keyword to open its detail page.
- Scroll to the Related keywords card.
- Click Track next to the term you want. The button changes to Tracking.
The new keyword starts active, in your project’s market. A term you already track shows Tracking instead of a button, so it cannot be added twice. A tracked related keyword counts towards your plan’s keyword limit: when your project is at its cap, the keyword is not added and the row keeps its Track button.
The Track button is not available to the Contributor role. See Roles.
Tag keywords
Section titled “Tag keywords”- One keyword — click the tag icon (Assign tags) in the row and tick or untick tags in the list. Each change is saved straight away.
- Several keywords — tick the rows, then use Assign tag or Remove tag in the bar that shows how many are selected. Assign tag lets you find a tag by name; if you may manage tags, you can also create one there by typing a new name. Remove tag lists only the tags the selected keywords hold. The message confirms how many keywords changed, for example “Tag added to 3 keywords”.
To create, rename, or delete tags themselves, see Tags.
Delete keywords
Section titled “Delete keywords”- One keyword — click the delete icon (Delete keyword) in the row, then confirm in the Delete keyword dialog. This cannot be undone.
- Several keywords — tick the rows, click Delete in the bar that shows how many are selected, and confirm in the Delete keywords dialog. Bulk delete is not available to the Contributor role: that role can tick rows to tag them, but the bar shows no Delete. See Roles.
Filter the list
Section titled “Filter the list”The filter bar on the Keywords tab has a search field and the filters Regions, Search intent, Brand, Tags, and Personas. A filter appears only when there is something to choose from — for example, Personas only when your project has personas. The count after a filter name shows how many options you selected. When a filter is active, Clear all at the end of the bar removes every filter at once.
Hover Add keywords to see how many keywords your plan still allows. When your project is at its cap, the button is disabled and the tooltip reads “You’ve reached your Keywords limit”. Inside the dialog, a list longer than the remaining allowance shows “Only 5 left on your plan — remove a line or upgrade.” and Add stays disabled: the whole list is refused, not trimmed. See Plans.
