- GripIQ captures the top 20 results. A keyword where your brand is not in that range counts as absent.
- Position states on the detail page: Ranked, Not ranking, No scan data. An empty scan window is reported as No scan data, never as a lost position.
Metric definitions
Section titled “Metric definitions”| Metric | Definition |
|---|---|
| Monthly search volume | Average monthly searches, summed across the filtered keywords |
| Branded share | Share of that volume from keywords containing your brand name |
| Annual commercial value | For each keyword, search volume × the click-through rate of your position × CPC × 12; summed across the set |
| SERP visibility | Presence weighted by search volume and by the click-through rate of each position |
| SERP share of voice | Each brand’s share of the clicks available across all tracked keywords, volume- and position-weighted; visible slices sum to 100% |
| Competitor gap score | Search volume × CPC × the share of the top five positions held by competitors. Your brand must be absent from the top 20 for the keyword to appear |
| CPC | Average cost per click an advertiser would pay; a proxy for commercial intent |
| Potential at #1 | The same calculation with the click-through rate of position 1; shown for every keyword with search volume and CPC, including keywords you do not rank for |
| Uplift | Potential at #1 minus the realised value: the estimated yearly opportunity if the keyword moved to position 1 |
| Ads budget | Estimated monthly spend needed to buy the traffic of position 1, derived from the top-of-page bid range; shown when bid data is available |
The click-through rate curve is an industry average: roughly 27% at position 1, falling to about 2% at position 10, and nothing beyond position 20.
Schedule and data freshness

While a scan is queued, the page reads “SERP scan pending — comes back in the next scan window.”
