Glossary

Every GripIQ term in the app's own words, in alphabetical order.

Terms use the labels shown in the app. Each heading has its own link: the anchor is the term in lower case with spaces replaced by hyphens, for example #project.

Calculated figures — share of voice, engagement score, visibility, positions, commercial value — are explained under Metrics, with their formulas and examples. A term appears in only one of the two lists.

The person at GripIQ who owns your project and sets up what you cannot change yourself: the project settings, the subscription, and the removal of a brand, website, social account, or persona. They also manage team members and roles, unless your project has a Team Admin who does that at Settings → Team members. Whoever requested the project starts as its Team Admin. Prompts and keywords you add yourself; a Team Admin adds and edits brands, websites, and social accounts, and a Team Member or Team Admin adds personas. Their name and email address are on the Your account manager card at Settings → Subscription.

One AI model’s response to one prompt, captured during a scan for the prompt’s region. Google AI Mode answers are captured the same way. An answer stores the full text, which brands it mentions, its sentiment and tone, and the web pages the model consulted.

Also see: Inspect answers, Sources (citations).

The assistant built into the app that answers questions about the project you have open. It reads that project’s prompts, keywords, socials, and insights, and summaries of its context documents, answers only from them, and never changes anything. It can be wrong, so check anything you act on.

A company or product GripIQ measures. Every brand in a project is either an Own brand — yours, the subject of the metrics — or a Competitor, the benchmark you are compared against. Brands are listed at Settings → Brands, where a Team Admin can add and edit them; to remove one, contact your account manager. Each brand has its own page.

Also see: Brands, Read a brand’s page, Discovered brand, Share of Voice.

One of the four things a project scans: prompts, keywords, social accounts, and websites. Insights use the same word for the four buckets they are sorted into: Web, Social, AI, and Keywords.

Also see: Scan / scan schedule, Insights.

The chronological feed at Competitors that mixes competitor social posts and competitor website changes. You can filter it with the dropdowns for brand, date range, Type (All, Website, Social media), and platform, and sort it by Newest or Most engaging.

Also see: Web, Socials.

The thematic category a piece of content falls into. GripIQ uses five: Educational, Promotional, Inspirational, Behind the Scenes, and Community Building. Pillars drive the content-pillar and pillar-mix charts on Socials → Overview.

Also see: Text analysis, Socials.

A reference file (PDF, CSV, or Excel) attached to your project by your account manager. GripIQ summarises it and uses the summary as background when it writes the weekly insights. Ask GripIQ can also read the summaries to answer your questions; because it sees summaries rather than the full text, it does not quote the documents. There is no upload page in the app.

Also see: Insight, Ask GripIQ, Plans.

The stamp beside the filters on the Prompts, Keywords, Socials, and Web pages that says when the data you are looking at was last collected and when the next scan runs: “Data as of …” followed by “next scan …”. Before the first scan it reads Awaiting first scan.

Also see: Scan / scan schedule, Channel.

A brand that AI answers and search results keep surfacing but that your project does not track yet. Discovered brands are listed at Settings → Brands and are reviewed every week. A Team Member or Team Admin can select Track to add one as a competitor from then on — this uses one brand of your plan, and earlier results are not analysed again — or Dismiss to set it aside.

Also see: Brands, Brand (own brand / competitor), Plans.

An AI-generated recommendation to improve your brand’s online presence, produced once a week from the last seven days of data. Each insight names the issue, proposes an action, and carries a channel, category, priority, impact, effort, and status.

Also see: Insights.

A search term the project tracks. Each keyword has a status, a region, an optional persona and tags, an AI classification (search intent, sentiment, brand status, term length), search-volume metrics, and a history of search-result snapshots.

Also see: Keywords, Search intent.

The section that tracks where the project’s brands appear in search results for the tracked keywords. It has three tabs: Overview, Strategy, and Keywords.

Also see: Keywords, Opportunity matrix.

A described audience segment — name, bio, intent, and demographics — used as context when GripIQ generates prompts and keywords. A Team Member or Team Admin adds personas at Settings → Personas, with Add persona or Generate with AI, within your plan’s quota. To change or remove a persona, contact your account manager.

Also see: Personas, Smart generate.

Your workspace, and the boundary of everything you see. A project owns its brands, personas, prompts, keywords, tags, results, insights, team members, and subscription. Every page in the app belongs to the project selected in the header.

Also see: Projects, How GripIQ works.

A question stored in the Prompts section that GripIQ asks the AI assistants on each scan — the kind of question a customer might ask about your category. A prompt has a status (Active, Suggested, Archived), a region, optional tags, and optional linked personas, and is classified as Branded or Non-branded.

Also see: Add prompts, Answer, Prompts.

The section that asks AI assistants (ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude) and Google AI Mode your prompts on every scan and measures how your brands appear in the answers. It has three tabs: Overview, Prompts, and Answers.

Also see: Prompts, Prompt, Answer.

The country or area a result is measured for. The project has a market, and every prompt has a region it is answered for. A new prompt gets the project’s market as its region. The available markets are France, Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, United Kingdom, United States, Spain, Italy, Poland, Sweden, Austria, Switzerland, Ireland, Portugal, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Czechia, Flanders, Wallonia (Wallonie), and Brussels.

Also see: Projects, Prompts.

What a project member is allowed to change. A member is a Team Admin, Team Member, or Contributor, and the role applies to every project they belong to. Whoever requests a project starts as its Team Admin, colleagues who join later start as Team Member, and a Team Admin can deliberately give someone the more restricted Contributor role. Every role sees every page and can add prompts and keywords, assign tags, vote on insights, and use Ask GripIQ. Team Members and Team Admins can also create and edit tags, generate content with AI, add personas, track or dismiss discovered brands, export data, and change an insight’s status. Only a Team Admin can invite people, change roles, and remove people at Settings → Team members, add and edit brands, websites, and social accounts, and connect services at Settings → Connections.

Also see: Team members and roles, Account manager.

A scan is one scheduled collection run for a channel. The scan schedule is the project-level interval that drives all four channels: Daily, Weekly, Monthly, or Disabled. You cannot start a scan yourself; the interval is set by your account manager and is shown, with the next scan time per channel, on the project settings page.

Also see: How GripIQ works, Channel.

What a searcher is trying to do with a keyword. GripIQ classifies every tracked keyword as Informational, Commercial, Transactional, or Navigational, and uses this as the bubble colour on the opportunity matrix and as a filter.

Also see: Keywords, Opportunity matrix.

How positive or negative a piece of content is. GripIQ stores a score between −1 and +1 and a label: Positive, Neutral, or Negative. It is shown on AI answers, on social posts, and as an average on Prompts → Overview.

Also see: Text analysis.

The search engine results page for a keyword. GripIQ captures the first 20 results per scan and shows the organic top 10 with the paid results grouped above and below them, exactly as they appear on the page.

Also see: Position (SERP), Keywords.

The record of one website scan: the list of pages found in the site’s sitemap, compared against the previous scan to produce the pages added, removed, and modified. A snapshot is only stored when something changed, and a short AI summary of the change is written in your project’s language.

Also see: Web, Competitors feed.

The button on Prompts → Prompts that writes new prompts for you from your project context. It is labelled Auto-generate when the project has no personas. You choose a persona, optional extra instructions, and how many prompts to generate (1 to 10); the results arrive as Suggested prompts for you to approve. The button is not shown to the Contributor role.

Also see: Add prompts, Persona, Role.

The section that collects and analyses posts from the monitored brands’ social accounts. It has two tabs: Overview, which compares reach, engagement, content pillars, formats, and posting cadence, and Timeline, the feed of collected posts. Posts are collected from Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, and YouTube, and from X and Pinterest accounts the project already monitors.

Also see: Socials, Engagement score.

The web pages an AI model consulted while answering a prompt. They are listed under Sources in the answer detail, and are aggregated into the Top Domains card as “sources that AI models cite most frequently in their answers”.

Also see: Inspect answers, Answer.

The subscription is your project’s plan: a tier, a start date, and an optional end date. The tier (for example Standard or Professional) sets the default quotas. A quota is the ceiling on one countable item — brands, personas, prompts, keywords, insights per weekly cycle, or team members — and is shown as “used / max” at Settings → Subscription.

Also see: Plans, Account manager.

A coloured label your team creates to organise and filter prompts and keywords. Tags are managed at Settings → Tags; the list shows how many prompts and keywords use each tag. A Team Admin or Team Member can create, edit, and delete tags; every role, including Contributor, can assign them.

Also see: Organize prompts and keywords with tags, Role, Projects.

The automatic reading of a piece of content — an AI answer or a social post — that produces its sentiment, tone, content pillar, readability, call-to-action type, hashtags, mentions, keywords, language, and the brands it names. It runs on every new answer and post.

Also see: Sentiment, Tone, Content pillar.

How the content sounds. GripIQ classifies it as Casual, Formal, Funny, or Serious, and shows it on an AI answer next to sentiment.

Also see: Text analysis, Inspect answers.

The section that watches the monitored brands’ websites: each scan reads the site’s sitemap and reports which pages were added, removed, or modified, with a short summary and content categories. Web → Overview lists the changes, and each change has its own page with the added, removed, and modified URLs. Website changes also appear in the Competitors feed, on a brand’s page, and on the dashboard timeline.

Also see: Web, Read a website change, Sitemap snapshot.

The window that opens on the first page you visit after a GripIQ update, listing the release notes for every version you have not seen yet; select Got it to close it. The same title names the card on your account settings page that lists the most recent releases.
